Books read
I went running errands this morning, and when I came out of the library we were having a lovely spring rain, the kind where you can smell the soil. I do hope we get warmer weather soon; I want to do some back porch gardening.
After a bit of a book drought, the library has put a whole slew of Juvenile & Young Adult books on the sale rack. I picked up a couple for release, Hiroshima, by Laurence Yep, for my annual Hiroshima Day release, and Hang a Thousand Trees with Ribbons, Ann Rinaldi's bio of Phillis Wheatley, which will be a Black History Month or Poetry Month release. I also picked up The Tale of One Bad Rat, an odd graphic novel about a girl who runs away from an abusive home situation, with a bit of Beatrix Potter thrown in!
The gullibility of some people never ceases to amaze me. http://www.bookcrossing.com/forum/5/2078642/20/subj_-Did-anyone-else-see-that-the-finger-in-the-Wendys-chili-was-the-accusers? Even when they are told it's satire, they continue to think it's true. Very sad.
Off tonight to the annual Woman Made Gallery benefit, at Catalyst Ranch, a place whose name I can never remember because it doesn't really mean anything! I'm volunteering, so I don't have to pay to get in (though I would). I debated between funky dress and elegant dress, and decided to go with elegant.
