That is sensational. Austere and meditative--a perfect sundown.

Thank you! I took another one of the same spot, but from outside the building. It was quite nice, but I love the way the columns frame this scene.

Sensational. A truly discerning eye.

My comment was going to be "Beautiful - and appropriate"......

...but then I started scrolling through your Flickr pix! So, now, a half hour later I have more to say! Firstly, it was great to see your photos of the Convention. I haven't been around all that much, so I hadn't seen many. Liz evidently put so much into the Irish effort that she had to vacation only a week after returning to work, and was in Tenerife - so I heard all about it, but now I get to put pictures to the mental images!

Secondly, have you written about this re-enactment?? I must scroll back through your journal to see. I have read so much about them, and after visiting Virginia 2 yrs ago I so much want to see one!

And thirdly, well, all these photos are marvellous. I love all the art you've seen of late, and now really, really need to catch up with you to find out more!

Here's my post about the re-enacting: http://mojosmom.livejournal.com/339496.html They actually just created an encampment, and shot off a cannon or two. No actual battles, though my friend does do that. In fact, he's been in a couple of movies, Gettysburg and Glory, though you'd have to know where to look! Producers, apparently, often use re-enactors, because they already know what they're doing.
