Something's askew:

From today's NYT:

A look a human deaths from bird flu, by country, according to the World Health Organization: There have been 63 deaths worldwide since late 2003, the U.N. agency says.

--Vietnam: 41 deaths

--Thailand: 13 deaths

--Indonesia: 5 deaths

--Cambodia: 4 deaths

And the stats on AIDS: http://www.avert.org/worldstats.htm

So Bush wants to spend $7 billion on bird flu and cut funding for AIDS research (and please don't talk to him about condoms and safe-sex education).

I spotted a bumper sticker on a car today that said "Hell Yes I Voted For Bush". Um...and this person is PROUD of that?? I'd be afraid someone would try to carjack me and beat me up LOL

Rrrr... This makes me FURIOUS! Granted, I'm a little biased, as I've had friends die of AIDS, and not of Bird Flu, but still... How about we cut the freaking DEFENSE budget instead, which is killing MORE people?!?!?!

I am livid...

Yeah, I took it from [livejournal.com profile] atabei who took it from the user who made it... Take it if you want, just credit the person I credited! :)

Well see, the difference is that Bird Flu is a pandemic that may or may not happen that we can some how prevent from happening before it actually does become pandemic.

But now AIDS, preventing it would mean having to discuss sex and that would certainly be embarassing now wouldn't it. Besides, it's already pandemic so you can't really do anything to PREVENT it from becoming pandemic anyway.

Totally off topic....

How'd you get the entry tags box in your sidebar? I've been wanting to do that but can't figure out how.

It's a function of the style you choose; not all styles have it. Which is one of the reasons I stick with this one (Smooth Sailing).

At least he is *polite*

I heard a sound-bite yesterday where President Bush commented the American people expected him to be 'polite' when dealing with foreign leaders. That was enough to cause me to turn off the radio for the next 24 hours.

On the upside....I was having lunch the other day and at the next table two gentlemen were in earnest conversation. When the manager asked them how they were the one fellow said, "You can do one thing for us," when the manager asked what he could do for them, the reply was, "Vote for a Democratic." I couldn't help but smile.

That made my day, Alrescate!

I wish I could proof read!

I meant "Vote Democrat" not "Vote for a Democratic."

I never even noticed the error...

until you pointed it out!

That still made my day, believe me! :-)

Wha? I guess I missed that one. I can only wonder what else he had in mind if he wasn't "expected to be polite". This country gets scarier by the day...

I'd say something's been askew for the last five years. This is just one more example of the Shrub's stupidity and lack of caring.

But bird flu is sexy!

[identity profile] avanta7.livejournal.com 2005-11-08 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
It's now! It's happenin'! It shows he's on top of current events and in touch with the world!

AIDS is, like, so 80s, man.

*gag me*
