Back on line

My Internet is back and I am pissed.  Why?  Because it took all of about two seconds for my local electrician to figure out the problem - a bad filter on the line.  My ISP's tech support people, the phone company tech, NONE of them bothered to have me check that.  Idiots.

Idiots indeed! All that time you could have been using it! I'm glad you're back now, anyway.

I can't believe that! Two things we always asked clients to do when I was working customer support in telecomms - first, reboot the router, turn it off & leave it 5 mins before turning back on (no idea of the technical reason, but 50% of folk never rang back,so it worked), and second, check the microfilter - it's such a simple thing, and they're only a few cents, worth keeping a spare in.

Crazy, isn't it?

I told my French tutor the story, and she told me a story about her cable guy, who came out to install the cable, sat around her house for three hours waiting for it to work. She finally kicked him out, scheduled another appointment, and this guy found that the first guy hadn't bothered to check that the cable was actually connected!

*Madre mía* as they would say here! Best story I heard from a tech support guy,one who actually went out to solve clients' problems, was a 200mile drive to plug in a computer, which had been unplugged by a cleaner and not replaced! Staff laziness cost that company loads!

The wonders of modern technology fade into insignificance beside the stupidity of the morons who service these wonders.
Glad you are back on line.
