Cast of Ravens: The Strange Case of Sir Thomas Overbury

Other stuff

I got a fund raising letter from the Chicago Historical Society today. The outside of the envelope said, "give the most unique present". AAAARRRGGHH!! I wrote a nasty, English-teacher type note on it, and stuffed it in the postage paid return envelope to send back. Sorry, but that's a pet peeve of mine.

My friends and I saw Eugene O'Neill's Hughie tonight at the Goodman, with Brian Dennehy. Very well-done. His character, Erie Smith, is a down-at-the-heels professional gambler at the fringes of the mob (Arnold Rothstein has him run errands when no one else is available). He's the kind of guy who's always puffing himself up (pretending the whores he brings to his room and cheats out of their money are showgirls from the Follies), and calling other people suckers. But maybe he's the sucker. Dennehy is so fine.

At dinner (La Strada; we hadn't been there before, but we liked it and will go again), I figured out that Sunday will be the first evening I haven't been out in the evening since last Friday! Tomorrow, Tony Kushner.
