Mar. 25th, 2006 09:54 pmI just watched a seriously bad movie, Homo Heights. I went to the video store intending to pick up Capote, but all their copies were out. So I browsed a bit, discovered that The Thief Lord has been made into a movie (I'll report on that later), and then I found Homo Heights. I'm sorry, but I just couldn't pass up a film with Quentin Crisp and Lea De Laria! It was way over-the-top, but despite it's badness, QC and LdL were splendid, and honestly, Stephen Sorrentino as drag queen Maria "the Donna" Callous (don of the gay Mafia) lip synching "Der Holle Rache" was worth the price of admission.
Went by the library to return a book and, as per usual, took a couple out, including one from my Wish List (The Great Latke-Hammentash Debate, also Garry Wills' latest, The Rosary (I swear I'll read anything that man writes). I also found a book called Rally 'Round the Flag: Chicago and the Civil War on their sale rack, so, for 75ยข, I picked it up for a colleague who is a Civil War re-enactor.
Mostly, the day was spent straightening up around the apartment, putting papers away or tossing them out. It's amazing how junk accumulates.
