So I decided to set up my new printer tonight, and it's decided not to recognize that there's paper in it. I called Hewlett-Packard and they are sending a replacement. It should be here within a day or so of my return from San Francisco. (I could pay $20 to have it shipped overnight, but, since I'm going out of town, why bother?) HP pays for sending back the defective one, too. Good service, I must say, but annoying that the thing's not working.

AND I went out and bought a digital camera, and am madly studying the manual. It's a Canon PowerShot A630. It's a bit more than I had planned on spending, but I like the size of the LCD monitor (it also has an optical viewfinder), as well as the fact that it has a range of positions. I was debating between this one and another, smaller, Canon (fewer megapixels, less optical zoom, and a smaller monitor), as I'm just a tiny bit uncertain about the weight of this one. But the place I bought it has a 10 day return/30 day exchange policy, so I'm going to take the thing to San Francisco with me to see how I like the handling. Then if I decide I prefer the smaller one, I can take it back. The person I dealt with was the manager of the store, very helpful - one reason I went to a camera store rather than a big box or shopping online. I need all the help I can get!!

I'm enjoying my new iMac, and am madly importing CDs to iTunes.
