A good day, and it's not even noon!
Jul. 3rd, 2008 10:51 amCourt went well. An old probation case that's been hanging around got terminated. Another guy got county time instead of priosn on a probation violation. Yet a third guy finally was released to drug treatment. On top of that, my Class X Armed Robbery (mandatory minimum of six years in the penitentiary) that was set for trial next week is going to be reduced to a Theft from Person for probation and time served.
And get this! I was on my way back from the jail when a woman came up to me and introduced herself as a Juvenile Probation Officer. She told me that, about a year ago, she had a client whose mother was in custody and who was represented by me. She had asked the mother who her attorney was, but the woman couldn't remember my name, so she described me. "She's very classy-looking, and always dresses beautifully." And the P.O. said that she instantly knew who the woman was talking about. That really made my day!
