Where, oh, where has she been?
Dec. 18th, 2010 09:41 amIt has been ages since I posted anything substantive. I had a murder trial the week of 12/6, and that occupied my time for ages. The jury came back around 9:00 Friday night (not yesterday, the Friday before); unfortunately, the verdict was not what we had hoped. On the other hand, the office holiday party was that night, just five minutes from the courthouse, so my trial partner and I could at least wait for the verdict with food, drink and company.
Parties are in full swing now, some more casual than others. Casa Italiana's festa natale was last Saturday, we had a bit of a party before, during and after the Teatro Vista board meeting Tuesday, and I'm off to Jim & Kevin's annual bash tonight. I'm trying to be good, and watch what I eat, as I don't want to pack on the pounds, not to mention my cholesterol is high (but, oh, I love good cheeses!).
I took off work yesterday, and got a new crown - the dental kind, not the princess kind, though the latter might well be less expensive! Then I browsed at the Chicago Architecture Foundation shop and finished my Christmas shopping. Wrapping is next! Went home, relaxed for a bit and, as the local anesthetic wore off, took an ibuprofen. The Art Institute is open late on Fridays, so I went down and checked out a couple of special exhibitions that are due to close in the new year, one of Chinese bronzes and the other of Mayan/Inca/Olmec art. They have drinks and noshes in the members' lounge on Friday evenings, too, so I went and had a glass of wine before heading home.
As my younger sister is arriving in town on Tuesday night, I must clean up the house, make sure I have clean sheets, and lay in some groceries. The last farmers' market of the year is today (they move indoors in October), so I'll head over there shortly.
