Have you been to the African Burial Ground Monument? (If you haven't, I highly recommend it!) There's a narrow, enclosed passage (you can see it here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mojosmom/1595262344/in/set-72157602464725191/), which, when you enter, narrows toward the top where there is an opening. I took the picture from inside. It was raining - hence the spatters on the right hand side.
