Book sales are fun!

Yes, I went to the last day of the Newberry Library book sale, when everything is half off. So the most expensive book I bought was $5 (and, of course, it was also the thinnest!). The best thing was that I found a book that I've been wanting for a long time, Kathrine Kressman Taylor's Diary of Florence in Flood. Also two books by Calvin Trillin that I haven't read, Cellini's Autobiography, a very interesting book about the design of an exhibition of illuminated manuscripts (lighting, display choices, etc.), a collection of de Quincey's essays, and a number of other goodies. On the bad side, though, I discovered too late that the garage where I usually park when I go to the Newberry no longer has discounted parking on weekends and evenings. I shall have to find a new garage, or start arriving early to hunt down street parking.
