Three bedroom condo, with sun room, formal dining room, two baths, washer/dryer, dishwasher. Two blocks from bus to Olympic stadium, walking distance to stadium if you are feeling athletic yourself. Available summer, 2016. Exorbitant rent will finance owner's escape from the insanity.

Can you tell I'm not happy? Two more years of Mayor Daley lying about how this won't cost the taxpayers any money. Yeah, right. Could we all send positive vibes for Rio (or any other city that's in contention)?

Been there, done that.

1996: We got a nice park out of it (bombing aside). Also got a nice new baseball stadium. Got lots of bad PR. Among other things, people were surprised that August in Atlanta is hot. (Our bad.) I was just relieved that we managed to fly everyone's flags right-side up.

We actually enjoyed living in L.A. during the 1984 Olympics. (Of course we were really young then.) We got to see the soccer game between Italy and Costa Rica, we still have a "Do not park: Olympic torch run" sign; (which we snagged from down the street from where we lived), we saw the Olympic torch run, and it felt as if the entire world were celebrating my birthday which happened to coincide with the opening ceremonies. It was lots of fun and not much hassle at all.

London 2012 is about to go through the roof and there are already mutterings on failure to manage costs.

An ex-boyfriend of mine was the PR Director for the bid process, so I'm not surprised that the costs were "spun" so well and are only now starting to really appear. He jumped ship after we won the Games - quelle surprise!
