Tomorrow I have to:

Buy Christmas cards, address, stamp & mail them.
Go to the bank.
Buy a Christmas tree and put it up.
Shop for groceries.
Make dish to take to Fran's for Sunday dinner.
Buy gift wrap.
Wrap presents for the people who will be at Fran's.
Buy pillows and bed linens. (This could probably wait; I could go to to Linens 'n Things Monday after work. OH! Good idea! DSW Shoe Warehouse is in the same place & I have a $25 off coupon to use! Good thinking!)
Go to the Facets Multimedia DVD/video sale. (Okay, that's a "want", not a "need").
Do the usual around-the-house stuff.

Oh, and go to a Christmas party!

Meet-Up was fun. Seven people, I picked up one book and gave away two (including one to our waitress). I consider that coming out ahead! Next month, we'll go to the south suburbs; I'm trying to rotate the location so more people can come.

Great concert last night. Not your typical Christmas concert, but that, of course, is what I love about the Newberry Consort. Mostly anonymous and 13th-century, with some 12th- and 14-th thrown in, in a variety of languages, including Provençal. My favorites were the pieces Mark Rimpel and Drew MInter (counter-tenors) sang together.

Opera tonight - Bolcom's The Wedding, based on the Robert Altman film. I've never seen the movie, and, from the reviews, which all said that the opera was much better, it's just as well. It's not my favorite Bolcom -- I liked McTeague and View From the Bridge much better -- but it was quite funny, and moving in parts. The singing, as usual, was excellent. The Harris' youngest has a non-singing role, one of the kids in the wedding party. She and her older sister are also both dancing in a production of The Nutcracker. The child had a dress rehearsal for that this afternoon and then dad picked her up, dropped her at the Opera House for tonight's performance, and came across the street and joined us for dinner. Mom said that, unlike her parents, she is quite unfazed by all the activity. I think it is more exhausting for her folks!

I finished the brief I've been working on. It's not actually due until Wednesday, so since it was late in the afternoon, I'm waiting until Monday morning to give it to the secretaries to copy/mail/etc.

Our administrative secretary told me today that, because I didn't take any sick days this year or last, I get an extra personal day this year as well as next year. This was a surprise. So instead of taking a vacation day next week, I'll use that extra personal day. Nice! Merry Christmas to me!
