It looks as though I may have a boarder for part of the summer. The daughter of a friend of mine is a student at the University of Chicago, and is planning on taking a summer course. However, the course is only about five weeks long and it's nigh impossible to find a sublet for such a short period of time, and I told my friend that if Mira couldn't find anything, she was welcome to use my spare room (not fancy, as futurecatnz can attest, but better than nothing. I heard for Hillary yesterday that Mira will probably have to take me up on the offer. (Hillary's exact message was "Let me know if she could rent out your spare room", which is reasonable, but I feel a bit weird asking the daughter of a friend for rent!) So I'll be landlady to a college student.

Well, I don't think my friend me to play mom, although certainly if I discovered her doing anything outrageous, I'd have a serious talk! However, Mira seems a pretty sensible kid.

Hm... I don't know how would I feel with a boarder for that long, especially if, like you, I was accustomed to living alone.

But really it's only for a little over a month so even if it's slightly annoying it'll soon be over.

That was my feeling, too. If it were the entire summer, I probably would not have made the offer, but five weeks I think I can handle! She's a good kid, too.

You might be surprised how you will enjoy having someone else around - specially knowing it isn't for long.

Also, she's an adult, with a life. So we'll both be out and about.
