Fashion and other things

mojosmomOkay, call me shallow. But I was thrilled and delighted to once more be ensconced in front of the TV watching Project Runway. I do enjoy that show a lot. And in more fashion, I went to see the film Valentino: the Last Emperor, Friday night. It's very good, a fashion story and a love story. I'm sure some will grumble about "materialism" and "excess", but it's nice to see someone at Valentino's level still, after all these years, concerned about every detail of design. Not to mention seeing, after nearly 50 years together, the love that still shines in his and Giancarlo's eyes when they look at each other.
Yesterday, I went to 57th Street Bookstore's second annual H.P. Lovecraft Memorial Ice Cream Social, consisting of readings from and about his work, and, of course, ice cream. On the way home, I saw a tub of books by some grad student housing, and naturally stopped to check it out, and grabbed a few:
