Marissa :-(

I have had to have Marissa put to sleep.
Earlier this afternoon, I noticed that she seemed to be having trouble breathing. Her mouth was open and her tongue out, and her breath was rattly. She occasionally acted as though she were trying to cough something up. I thought she might be choking on something, but couldn't feel anything. I called the vet's office - thank goodness they were open! - and walked over with her (it still being impossible to get the car out). Dr. Wake took one look, checked and said that her lungs were full of fluid, and that she was hurting. He said that although he could remove the fluid, her lungs would just fill up again, and that, as he put it, "she's not an Erector set for me to play with". Having seen how Mr. Mojo suffered through too much intervention, I made the decision, and came home without her.
